ABOUT OUR BOARD
Scott DeWind, Chairman
Scott DeWind moved to the Roaring Fork Valley from Florida in 1989 and has been part of the Alpine Christian Academy for 7 years. Scott and his wife Nancy, who have been married since 1991 have three girls (7th grade, 5th grade and Kindergarten). Scott BS degree in Construction Management from Clemson University in South Carolina and is the owner of a Construction Management Company here in the Valley. Scott and his family are part of Crossroads Church in Aspen where he holds a deacon position.
Scott and his wife Nancy have a passion for Christian education and understand its importance in today's society and our local valley. They look forward to having their girls graduate from ACA. Scott enjoys biking, fishing and golf.
Garret Brandt
Garret grew up in Aspen, and returned to the Roaring Fork Valley in 1998 after earning a BA in accounting and a law degree. Garret has been married to Leslee since 1991, and has four children, Bobby, Katie, Jenny and Julie. All except Julie currently attend ACA. The Brandt family attends Christ Community Church and enjoys rafting, hiking, camping and playing games together.
Rebecca Henschel
Rebecca Henschel has lived in the Roaring Fork Valley since she was 7 years old and continues to enjoy Colorado’s great outdoors. Rebecca is married to John and has two children (Ashley and Davis) who both attend ACA. For the past several years, she has served on the Board while volunteering her time at ACA teaching Spanish. Rebecca will be running her 10th marathon this year. Rebecca and her families are members of Messiah Lutheran in Aspen.
Martin Mata
Martin Mata grew up in Michigan, and relocated to the Roaring Fork Valley in 1992. The owner of Mata Design Company, Martin is a skilled architect who just recently joined the Board of Directors at Alpine Christian Academy. He’s a member and elder at Grace Church and is married with two daughters who both attend the Academy.
Larry Murphy
Larry Murphy, a Colorado native, moved to the Roaring Fork Valley shortly after he and his wife Jody married in 1980. He is a 1979 graduate of Colorado State University with a degree in Business Administration and has been an accountant in the real estate and development industry for over twenty-three years. Their daughter, Ariel, a fifth grader at ACA, was born in 1996 and has attended ACA since K-5. The Murphy’s live in Carbondale and enjoy horses and beagles on their small ranch. The Murphy’s are members of Christ Community Church in Basalt.
Carolyn Stanberry
Carolyn Stanberry has lived in the Roaring Fork Valley for 25 years and has taught for 7 years. She joined the Alpine Christian Academy family in 2000 as the second grade teacher and in 2006, became a member of the Board of Directors. Carolyn is married, has four children and attends Sonlight Foursquare Church.
